On May 10, 1996, two commercial expeditions headed by expert leaders attempted to scale Mt. Everest, but crowded conditions, questionable judgment calls, and a fierce storm stopped many climbers, leaving them stranded or left for dead. Using these events and outcomes, panelists will explore the difference between process and outcome and how these relate to entrepreneurial pursuits.

BIA was recently featured on the June 25, 2006 cover of Barron's "Is Your CEO Lying? In the post Enron era, big investors are more skeptical that ever about companies' credibility. How a little know firm helps uncover deception." BIA received its initial round of funding from Arcadia Partners (Liam Donohue Tu'95) and counts five Tuck graduates among its fifty employees.

Deal or No Deal? Deciding When to Sell a Startup

Entrepreneurs face many difficult decisions, but one they all hope to confront is deciding whether to accept (or solicit) an offer to be acquired. The choice necessarily involves challenging considerations of the startup's market opportunity and competitive situation, the attractiveness of an acquisition's terms, the viability of remaining independent, and the personal goals and risk tolerances of the entrepreneur and his or her team. Session will focus on the example of @Last Software, a developer of Sketchup software for 3-D design that was acquired earlier this year by Google.
